The University of Iowa aims to keep its academic, research, health care, business, and teaching activities free from actual or perceived conflicts of interest. A conflict occurs when outside personal, professional, commercial, or financial interests could interfere with an employee’s duties, bias professional judgment or research, or create personal gain at the University’s expense. While few activities are strictly prohibited, the University requires all potential conflicts to be disclosed, reviewed, and properly managed according to its policies on Conflicts of Commitment and Interest.
